Statement From Council Member Garodnick re Strike at the Central Park Boathouse
"The workers’ charges against Boathouse management are extremely troubling. What they entail cannot be tolerated under any circumstances, particularly not in connection with a concession with the City. Where there’s smoke there’s usually fire – and right now the skies are black over the Boathouse. The constant stream of serious allegations, coupled with management’s disappointing track record even on matters like cooperating with a City audit, raise a lot of concerns.
"The City must take a long, hard look at the facts and make the right move. These workers deserve to be back at their jobs, earning a fair wage, in conditions that are free of harassment and in compliance with the law.”
