Garodnick Takes on Confusing Parking Signage

With countless drivers getting tickets each year due to New York’s notoriously confusing parking signage, Council Member Garodnick announced legislation aimed at clearing things up.  His bill, supported by the Council’s Transportation Chair, James Vacca, and AAA New York, would require the City to reexamine signage every three years with an eye towards keeping it as easy-to-understand as possible.

“You hate to see people who make a good-faith effort to follow the rules get punished because the rules are virtually impossible to decipher,” Council Member Garodnick said.

He added: “When two or three signs are stacked on top of each other, they contradict one another and it’s like trying to understand some kind of logic game, they scream out that we can do better.”
