Eastern promise: The Midtown East rezoning is finally getting the green light

Mayor de Blasio and City Councilman Daniel Garodnick on Thursday struck a sane deal to tweak a long-overdue plan to rezone a big swath of East Midtown. New rules will unlock air rights — and enable the city’s heart to beat well into future generations. Huzzah.
