Statement on the Sale of CW Capital by Fortress Investment Group
There were reports today that Fortress Investment Group sold a CW Capital entity to Walker & Dunlop Inc. for $220 million. Fortress and CW Capital are relevant to the 25,000 residents of Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village because a subsidary company, CW Capital Asset Management, has served as the special servicer of the property since the default by Tishman Speyer in 2010.

Council Member Garodnick Introduces Bill to Put QR Codes on Publicly Posted Permits
The City Council’s Technology Committee held a hearing on legislation sponsored by Council Member Garodnick that would require all publicly posted city permits, licenses, notices of inspection, and registrations to have a QR, or quick response, code.

Second Avenue Subway Construction

Garodnick Visits Community Education Council Meeting to Push for Relief at P.S. 116
Council Member Garodnick attended a meeting of the District 2 Community Education Council to encourage the DOE officials present to incubate the new P.S. 281 a year before it opens in its permanent home in order to provide relief to the severely crowded P.S. 116.

Garodnick Takes on Confusing Parking Signage
With countless drivers getting tickets each year due to New York’s notoriously confusing parking signage, Council Member Garodnick announced legislation aimed at clearing things up. His bill, supported by the Council’s Transportation Chair, James Vacca, and AAA New York, would require the City to reexamine signage every three years with an eye towards keeping it as easy-to-understand as possible.
