Statement of Council Member Garodnick on the Release of NYPD Stop, Question and Frisk Data
Over the past several months, New Yorkers from every neighborhood have been engaged in a conversation regarding the New York City Police Department’s (NYPD) stop, question and frisk policy. Put simply, the number of stops made is troubling, and has led people to believe that NYPD officers are making stops without what most New Yorkers would regard as reasonable suspicion.
